Indie publisher Versus Evil today announced it’s partnership with Brazilian based indie developer Swordtales for the release of Toren on PC, Mac and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system in early 2015. Toren is a dark fantasy adventure game that brings poetry to life in an epic journey about growth, discovery and overcoming great hurdles.

“We’re very excited to be teaming up with Versus Evil,” said Vitor Severo Leães, Swordtales Producer. “Toren is the biggest project of our lives and we have been independently developing it for three years. A big concern for us was finding a publishing partner for the game, one that understood how we operated and had the experience to help us launch the game successfully. We found the ideal partner in Versus Evil and are looking forward to working closely with them.”

“Toren is a great example of the type of game we look to partner with,” said Steve Escalante, general manager of Versus Evil. “It’s a unique, exciting, and beautiful game with a story that truly captivates the player. The Swordtales team has done a great job in developing this magical world and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them. We look forward to sharing more information in the months to come and to finally releasing Toren to gamers across the globe.”

Toren is an adventure game with beautiful graphics, innovative puzzles and immersive gameplay, which leads the player through an introspective and captivating journey to explore deep concepts and existential questions. In the game, players will witness the birth and the growth of a lonely girl named Moonchild, guiding her on a dangerous journey of discovery and transformation as she unlocks the mysteries of the tower, known as Toren.

As one of the hottest new indie development studios in Brazil the game has been recognized with several nominations and awards already including an Honorable Mention at the Independent Games Festival, a Finalist for Art Design in both InidePub and the Brasil Game Show awards and was the winner of the Best PC at the E-Games awards. The studio has also received recognition and the support from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture.
