Before you begin your journey as a budding young hero in the making, be warned that the Temple of Soma is filled with equal parts danger and mystery. But don’t worry! We’ve compiled a few tips n’ tricks to help guide you through the demo experience!
MONOLITH: REQUIEM OF THE ANCIENTS
Demo Tips & Tricks
We’ve kept these pretty general to avoid any spoilers because the temple’s greatest secrets are waiting to be discovered on their own…
Combat Strategy – Astor will encounter a variety of different enemy types in and around the temple. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, so be sure to observe how they each move and attack to plan out your strategy in advance. Rushing in unprepared is sure to end in defeat!
The Best Offense is a Good Defense – Astor’s adventure begins with only a few basic attacks, which makes this a great opportunity to boost your defensive skills. Get comfortable using both block and parry to minimize damage, and practice your timing. When you time a parry just right, you’ll temporarily stagger your enemy long enough to inflict some serious damage!
Upgrade – See those red crystals everywhere? Smash ‘em up to collect the orbs! These orbs are your currency and can be used at stores to purchase powerful upgrades for Astor. Add advanced attacks like heavy combos, new techniques, or even finishers. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as smashing an enemy between two giant slabs of stone!
The Spirit Bubble – Astor possesses a special gift which allows them to traverse between realms for a limited time. Stuck on a puzzle? Perhaps visiting the spirit realm will provide the answers you seek… or maybe even ancient hidden secrets.
Combat Mastery – Got the basics of combat down? Awesome! Then you may have discovered that Astor’s power grows with the combo meter. The higher the combo count, the more devastating Astor’s attacks. The combo meter resets after a period of inactivity, so what do you do if your enemies are spread out too far apart? String your combos together with a ranged attack! Once Astor learns the Runic Blast ability, a whole new level of combat strategy becomes available to you.
Good luck, and don’t get discouraged! If at first you don’t succeed, practice is key, and we’re confident that you’ll be punishing those pesky Hiltsik warriors in no time at all. But don’t get too cocky. Astor’s biggest challenge yet awaits you deep inside the temple.
