Versus the Week of July 20

By July 22, 2020Versus The Week

Hey guys, Maevri here!

Happy Wednesday and welcome to Versus the Week, which is basically just the blog where I get to word vomit all the stuff we’re working on instead of annoying you with stream of consciousness tweets on the brand account all the time. If this is your first time reading, great! Generally what I do is gives updates on all the things I’m allowed to talk about, and then sometimes I tell you about my cat Petrie or my Lockdown Garden (like a Victory Garden but with less patriotism). So let’s get into it for this week:

We heard you like Pillars of Eternity

Usually when I tell people I work for Versus Evil, the first thing they say is “Oh yeah, y’all did Pillars of Eternity, right? I love those games!” Which in and of itself is sort of flawed (if anyone “did” Pillars it’s the brilliant folks at Obsidian), but it’s so cool to me that this game is just universally known as a staple of CRPGs. Anyway, I’ve got great news for the dozen or so of you that still haven’t bought these games on Steam yet. We’re happy to bring you the Pillars of Eternity Collection, which includes both games with all the frills, for 60% off now through the 28th. That means you can get yourself hundreds of hours of quality gameplay for less than the cost of one AAA title game. This bundle includes all the DLC for both games as well, so what I’m trying to say is I’ll see you sometime next year once you’re finally through all the content.

Or if you already own one of the games, you can still get the other one on offer here:

I also wanted to give y’all a super quick update on the Switch version of Pillars of Eternity. As you may already know, the Developer just finished a HUGE patch (read about it here). The patch is currently with Nintendo, going through their testing and approval process. Once we’ve got an update from them you can bet your butts I’ll make posts everywhere and let you all know about it.

The Banner Saga 3 is Leaving Xbox Game Pass

But it's not the end of the world... or is it?

All good things must come to an end, and I’m not talking about the plot of Banner Saga 3. It’s true, the final installment in this epic saga will be leaving the Xbox Game Pass at the end of this month. BUT do not despair – if you have a Game Pass membership, you can buy the game for 20% off before it leaves!

And you can of course still buy the entire saga on Steam

Almighty does a Beta

It’s finally time! After months of me playing this game by myself or with my coworkers, we’re finally ready to bring in some playtesters so I can have cooler teammates. I mean yeah, we’re also holding this technical test so we can get feedback and work out balancing and stuff – but also the teammate thing. I can’t WAIT to hear what folks think about the game and see everyone’s different playstyles.

Obviously this is a closed test under NDA so you won’t be hearing any details, but that does mean we’re one step closer to you getting your hands on it as well.

In the meantime, enjoy this extremely pro tip about not getting laser beamed to death

But wait… there’s more

Listen, I’m not saying I know about a much anticipated Faeria announcement happening tomorrow, but I’m also not saying I don’t know about one as well. All I can actually say without getting in trouble is that you should probably definitely switch up your morning routine and keep an eye on our socials 👀

That’s all for this week!  As always, if you have any content or questions please feel free to reach out via our socials. You can stay in touch with me and the team by joining our Discord and following us on Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook.
