Howdy everyone! We are very pleased to announce that the latest patch for Pillars of Eternity I on Nintendo Switch is now live. This is a very extensive update to the game that will bring the port to parity with the original PC version. Thank you so much to the community for your feedback, support, and patience as we’ve worked to get this patch out to all of you.

I know you’ve all been eagerly awaiting this announcement, so I’ll get right into it. One thing to note is that this is a very expansive game, and the Nintendo Switch has some hardware limitations that require the game to be installed on an external microSD card. More details below:

Question: What was fixed in this patch?

Answer: You can find full patch notes in this blog post here but the highlights are:

  •         All known stability issues
  •         Ranged attacks and spells now work as intended
  •         Several performance issues
  •         Corrupted VFX of Chanter class spells resolved

Question: Do I need to start a brand new game?

Answer: No, the patch will resolve any outstanding issues that you are experiencing on a current save file.

Question: What are the storage requirements for playing Pillars of Eternity 1 on the Nintendo Switch console?

Answer: The Nintendo eShop digital version of Pillars of Eternity 1, including all bug fixes and improvements, requires 29 GB of available storage.  Because this exceeds the available internal storage on the console, the game must be installed to a microSD card (sold separately) that is inserted prior to beginning the download.

Any microSD card used for game storage must have a read speed of at least 60 MB/sec.

For details see the Nintendo microSD Card FAQ: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22481/

Question: Will I need to uninstall and completely reinstall the game on a microSD card?

Answer: No, this is not required. However, you may want to do this in order to keep all game files in the same location
